Carpet: wide range & atmosphere
Not sure which floor suits you best? Let us inspire you with the different possibilities in our shop.
Carpet is also flooring!
Floor covering is basically the collective name for everything you can lay down on your bare floor to cover it and, if necessary, to atmospherically adapt it to your wishes. Carpet is therefore a floor covering, and a "soft" one at that, given the character of the often woven or tufted product made of textile fibres.
Carpet (soft flooring)
Although carpet is no longer used much as a floor covering, we all know it and it is still the softest form of floor covering that gives you a warm and cosy feeling. Ideal for the bedroom but also still widely chosen for the stairs.
Carpet comes in many varieties, not only in high or low pile, but also in colour or patterns. A patterned carpet can give your room that extra touch. In our shop, we have an extensive range that also includes natural fibres such as cotton and wool.
Why choose carpet anyway?
Soft carpets are great for insulation or soundproofing. In addition, with carpet there is much less chance of slipping, which makes the floor safe, especially for older people. Contrary to earlier claims, carpet can actually be used well in case of allergies. Dust swirling around is absorbed and retained by different carpets and can be removed and disposed of again with the right hoover. With hard floors, dust ends up on the floor and will be driven back into the air with movement and airflow.
Carpet on the stairs
It is not surprising that a nice carpet on the stairs is still chosen. This affordable option for stair covering is not only attractive but can also be a good solution for noise pollution. Very often you see that under the stairs there is a stair cupboard which is incredibly handy for storing things but unfortunately also works as a sound box! By choosing a carpet in combination with a good underlay, the sound comfort will clearly increase and this nuisance will be kept to a minimum.
Underlay or not?
We recommend using a good underlay at all times. Not because it means more turnover for us and more money for you, but simply because it will increase the lifespan of your chosen carpet by several years. In places where you will walk a lot, the carpet may or may not be regularly pressed down by the heel of your shoe or the foot itself.
So the piles, loops of your carpet are very often compressed in that place. At first, your carpet will recover almost immediately but this resilience will diminish over time.
From day one, the underlay compensates for the carpet's impression and pushes the carpet back up, so to speak. As a result, the final carpet fibre experiences much less pressure and its resilience will remain intact for a very much longer time and your carpet will continue to look beautiful for much longer.
In addition, you should know that several carpet manufacturers and suppliers specify in the small print of the warranty terms that the warranty is voided if an underlay is not used!
Have it laid or lay it yourself
We have the right experts for laying your carpet and we recommend that you let us lay your beautiful new floor covering. Our quotation will include the costs for this. Most floor coverings come in rolls of 400 or 500 cm wide, so they are not very handy and not easy to carry around. Our men know the tricks to get the carpet through the narrow stairwell and cut it to fit neatly in your room.
Carpet / rug
We can have rugs made from most 400- or 500-cm-wide carpets. You choose the size, shape and finish and your carpet will return as a rug after processing, but a runner or customised shape for caravan, boat is no problem either. Our advisers will be happy to discuss the possibilities with you.
